CAMPUS QUESTION PATTERN OF TCS COMPANY

Campus Question Pattern of TCS company

TCS came to our campus, recruited a lot of students. The question paper pattern was just the same as that of the previous papers….

The questions are below… (May be the values are different but The model would be the same.
1)      a two-dimensional array, X (9, 7), with each element occupying 4 bytes of memory, with the address of the first element X (1, 1) is 3000; find the address of X (8, 5).
Soln For this kind of problem the method is simple. The address of (1,1) is 3000. Then the address of (1,5) is 3016.Similarly the address of (8,5) is 3212 (If u find it difficult better draw a matrix roughly and then proceed)
2)      In the word ORGANISATIONAL, if the first and second, third and forth, forth and fifth, fifth and sixth words are interchanged up to the last letter, what would be the tenth letter from right?
Soln: Just rearrange the letters as asked and things would be done.
3) What is the largest prime number that can be stored in an 8-bit memory?
Soln: If 8 bit then the storage space is 2^8  i.e 256. Now the largest prime number  that can be stored is 251
Similarly if 7 bits 2^7 is the max value and so the largest prime is 127 (Not sure abt the value)

4) A man, a woman, and a child can do a piece of work in 6 days. Man only can do it in 24 days. Woman can do it in 16 days and in how many days child can do the same work?
Soln: 1/6-(1/24+1/16)
5)         Find the value of the 678 to the base-7.
Ans: just divide 678 by 7 and write the remainder.. similar to converting 102 to binary

6) Complete the series 2, 7, 24, 77,__
soln : second term : (2*3 +1) à7
          Third term :  (7*3)+3 à 24
          Fourth term :  (24*3)+5à 77
         Fifth term : (77*3)+7  à

7) Number of faces, vertices and edges of a cube
 ans : 6,8,12

8)Find the value of @@+25-++@16, where @ denotes "square" and + denotes "square root".
Ans: For these type of prob just do as its given… u can also proceed by canceling the square root and square
9) Find the result of the following _expression if, M denotes modulus operation, R denotes round-off, T denotes truncation: M(373,5)+R(3.4)+T(7.7)+R(5.8)
Ans: the basis of maths is enough care to b taken is be clear in truncating and round off
10) If TAFJHH is coded as RBEKGI then RBDJK can be coded as?
Ans: just proceed and find the relation between the given terms…
11) A power unit is there by the bank of the river of 750 meters width. A cable is made from power unit to power plant opposite to that of the river and 1500mts away from the power unit. The cost of the cable below water is Rs.15/- per meter and cost of cable on the bank is Rs.12/-per meter. Find the total of laying the cable
ans : its easy… the area covered by the river is 750 metres and the remaining 750 metres has to be the land… so the answer is
(750 * 12) + (750* 15) = 20250
12) Which of the following are orthogonal pairs?
a.  3i+2j b. i+j c. 2i-3j d. -7i+j

The answers are 3i+2j and 2i-3j
         13) What is the power of 2?
a. 2068   b.2048  c.2668
                    ans: 2048
14) Complete the series. 4, -5, 11, -14, 22, --
                     Consider 4 and 11 à the diff is 7
Consider -5 and -14 à the diff is 9 (along with a negative sign)
                     Consider 11 and 22 à the diff is 11
Consider -14 and  ??? à the diff is has to 13 (along with the negative sign)
15) A can copy 50 papers in 10 hours while both A & B can copy 70 papers in 10 hours. Then for how many hours required for B to copy 26 papers?
        A à 10 hrs 50 papers means 1 hr 5 papers
       A and B à 70 papers in 10 hrs means 1 hr 7 papers
So b does 2 papers in 1 hr
       So for 26 papers à 13 hrs
16) Given the length of the 3 sides of a triangle. Find the one that is impossible? (HINT: sum of smaller 2 sides is greater than the other one, which is larger)
17) Sum of slopes of 2 perpendicular st.lines is given. Find the pair of lines from the given set of options, which satisfy the above condition?
         Check the orthogonal condition
       18) (Momentum*Velocity)/(Acceleration * distance). Find units.
Momentum is mass * velocity just substitute that’s it…
19) My flight takes of at 2am from a place at 18N 10E and landed 10 Hrs later at a place with coordinates 36N70W. What is the local time when my plane landed?
For this kind of prob consider only the East and west direction…
           The difference is (70 – 10) à 60
For one transition in degree time is 4
           60*4  à 240 min…
Now add 2 am and 1o hrs à so 12 noon
Now since from East to west (10E to 70W)à subtract the value of 240 min or (240/60) hours that’s it…
The remaining prob were ok…
INTERVIEW:
They just check your confidence level..
     Be confident and kool…
In my panel they asked mr abt my projects that’s it…
ALL THE BEST..
